Officine Panerai Swiss watch company was founded in Florence, Italy in 1860. Diving watches became their specialty and during World War II these durable wristwatches were used by the Royal Italian Navy. Rolex helped supply the brand with parts such as watch case and caseback. The company began to leave the military market in the early 1990’s and in 1995 Sylvester Stallone bought a Panerai Luminor in a store in Rome to wear during shooting of the film “Daylight”. This helped launch the brand worldwide and now they make special limited edition timepieces and a complete luxury lineup as well. Panerai watches are made of stainless steel, titanium, ceramic and 18K rose gold material and have rubber or leather straps. Today the most popular styles are: Ferrari, Luminor 1950, Marina, Radiomir, Rattrapante, GMT, Tourbillon & Monopulsante. Panerai is a wholly owned subsidiary of Compagnie Financière Richemont Group S.A.
