The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona watch, debuted in 1963, was created to meet the demands of professional race car drivers. With a highly reliable chronograph and bezel with tachymetric scale, it allowed drivers to perfectly measure average speeds up to 400 kilometres or miles per hour. Daytona is the Florida town which, in the early 1900’s, started attracting motor sport enthusiasts for its wide beach of smooth, compacted sand, ideal to attempt land speed record attempts. In 2016, Rolex updated its iconic 904L stainless steel 40MM Daytona Cosmograph wristwatch by adding a Cerachrom ceramic bezel and new black trimmed subdials giving it a fresh black and white panda look while still honoring its heritage. Historically a great wristwatch investment, the new re-design has been met with huge collector demand.
